A 2020 Corona Virus spin on The Trammps 1976 Disco Inferno classic, this song was supposedly inspired by a scene in the 1974 blockbuster film The Towering Inferno.
According to the guy who mixed the original track, the Dolby noise reduction had been set incorrectly at the time of recording. When the sound engineer discovered the error and corrected it, the mix had a much wider dynamic range than was common at the time. Due to this, the record seems to ‘jump out’ at the listener. The track went to number 1 in the US disco charts for six weeks and gained much greater recognition when an almost eleven-minute album version was included in the film Saturday Night Fever in 1977.
